Last Wednesday through Friday afternoon, our squad as a whole went to a Village. We slept in a school and during the day we went to two schools. We also had Church at night and on Friday we were able to eat a special lunch because of a wedding that was happening that day but the title behind this blog comes from Wednesday night when we walked to Church after dinner one flash light in the front of the line of sixty people and one flash light in the back.
We had to cross a creek it was knee high at the deepest parts but we all made it safely and were all thinking about our next blog titles. So after an amazing Church service we had to begin our walk back to the school to sleep.
It had started to rain a little while we were at Church so when it came time to cross the river it had rose a little and the path we used the first time wasn't an option. We waded up the river, the deepest parts at this point in our journey were up to mid thigh on me.
Thankfully we all made it safely across the river and back to the school and then it happened...it started to pour and the storm lasted for several hours.
In the morning the Pastor had told us God was watching over us because He held off the storm until we all made it back to the school, he had also told us that in this part of Honduras it had not rained for a while and there had been a drought and that crops were hurting. He said that we blessed this village by just our presence and that we were an answer to prayers and that the blessing of rain came with the blessing of our presence. Ironically it rained on Friday too!
The whole experience was a blessing to see all the smiles on the kids faces at the schools, to hear how thankful the Pastor was for us being there, and to feel so welcomed.
I am realizing that it is really true that when you go to be the blessing to someone, you end up receiving a blessing in return too.
In Christ,
Cayla
