My journey begins now; although I don’t officially leave until September….my journey begins now. Fundraising has officially begun. My support letters are getting ready to be sent out, a t-shirt has been designed for me, and various other fundraising ideas are in the works.

So where is my excitement?

Raising FUNds should be fun right?!

To be honest the feeling of asking people for money doesn’t exactly sound fun to me instead it sounds somewhat uncomfortable. Wouldn’t it be great if we didn’t have to do things we felt uncomfortable doing or things we didn’t like to do? When I start to feel this way I remember two things. The first is that that Christ endured so much here on earth for me so that one day I can live with him forever. His time on earth wasn’t exactly the easiest life; He did hard things for me and still remained faultless. He took the death I deserved. He died for me, that is some fierce love.  The second is that being a Christ follower requires doing things that we don’t like, that are hard, and that feel uncomfortable, and so on. My example of raising support might seem silly, but there are things that we are going to face both big and small that aren’t going to be fun, but we are NEVER alone. He goes with us.

Doing things we don’t like will come.

Discouragement will come.

Hard times will come.

"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." –John 16:33

So where will my excitement be found? My excitement will be found in a God who will provide for my needs and who will be there for me every step of this journey.
